breeding indian ringnecks

Postby jillybean » Thu Aug 25, 2011 12:41 am

Hi I am new to this group I have 4 cockatiels and 6 indian ringnecks, can I just put the breeding boxes in the avairy and hope for the best or will the ringnecks kill the cockatiels as I have heard they will. Would it be best to seperate the breeding pairs into a separate cage? What if I took the cockatiels out and just put nesting boxes in with the ringnecks? can they all live in the same cage and breed? Hope someone can shed some light on this for me thanks

I don't know about ringnecks. As a matter of fact I have never seen one other than this computer.

I have three pair of cockatiels together. They are a happy little flock except at nesting time. I have to put their boxes as far apart as possible and away from the feeding stations. They are very territorial with their eggs and young babies. The funny thing is that as soon as a baby finds it's way out of the nest - it belongs to the flock. The parents share their duties with each other. All of them feed the babies. All of them preen the babies. The babies beg all adults. It is a sight to see wabbly babies going to the closest adult for care.
