My wife and I found this web site while trying to better understand why our Yellow Naped Amazon suddenly and for apparently no reason became outright aggressive towards me. This literally, “over-the-weekend” transformation in behavior has converted our once harmonious home into a Mexican standoff between Birtrude and me.
For the last 2 years I have handled her, hand feeding and carrying her on my sholder from her upstairs purch to her sleeping perch in her bedroom perch each night. Monday evening (9/5/11), she launched from her perch and bit me on the ear, resulting in a trip to the ER and three stiches. Now she launches for me at first sight. I know this is an introductory forum so have written this summary in hopes that a member can direct me to the right forum where we can gain some insight on how to restore our happy home.
I thank, in advance anyone who replies to this post.
Sincerely,
Jewel and Joe
