New Hahns Macaw owner in the UK

Postby Chris Hahns » Sat Sep 24, 2011 9:56 am

Hey there, my name's Chris and i'm 23 from Surrey in the UK. I have recently bought my first bird which is a 7 month old hahns macaw. I havnt brought it home yet as it needs to have a blood test done before it can leave but hopefully should be able to bring it home next week but i have been going to see it everyday :)

As i said, its my first bird so this forum is going to be a really big help im sure. The bird is really tame allready and will step up sometimes but i have been looking at how to target train them so think this will be the first thing i try with it.

Dont know if its a girl or a boy yet so havnt given it a name yet just 'it' which i dont like very much.

Anyway here is a pic of me and 'it'.

PS. my hair isnt always this messy :P

Thanks for the welcome :)

hopefully it wont be too noisy, he does vocalise a little bit at the moment but its just a frog/hickup noise he makes which is a bit strange but really cute.

Ive gone to the pet shop every day for about 4 days now so hopefully that should make things easier when the time comes to take him/her home.

Ye its great you get the chance to bond with him/her like that. I didnt get that chance with Rio as the breeder lived a 13 hour round trip from me. I did drive down to collect him though and spent a good 8 hours with him before bringing him home again the following day.
