Meet Sunny

Postby Bri » Wed Oct 12, 2011 2:54 pm

I got my :senegal: on Sunday but I'm just now getting around to posting pics and about our first couple of days. She was very good with the breeder I was impressed. He was able to touch her beak, kiss her head, pet her back, and even lay her on her back. She did well on the car ride home and seemed to be very curious and interested in me. I put her in her cage to let her explore it and then later I tried to get her to step up. It was my mistake I know, but she seemed so well socialized and he said she did perfect with the vet so I had confidence she'd allow me. Nope, she put her whole beak around my finger and started literally scraping the skin off. I kept it there with no reaction as long as I could but then I got the image she wasn't going to stop and she started biting harder which I already thought it was really hard  So I pulled my hand away and have used a perch since. I've tried since with my finger but before I get close she puts her head forward so then I grab the perch. She still bites it like she did my finger though :? But it makes me glad I used the perch. Anyways I'll post the pictures and let you guys comment and then I'll tell you more about her. I feel like I've given you enough to read already  Oh and the name Sunny isn't for sure yet I just haven't come up with anything else yet.

Sunny posing. This is my favorite picture of her so far.

She is very cute. Give her time with the biting thing. She probably just needs time to adjust to you. Congrats.

Congratulations. I am sure that with a little acclimation all will be well.

What a cutie!

My Senegal did the same thing to my mother-in-law... of course when I was gone, he bites the bird-sitter. DX Scraped quite a bit of skin off of her finger, too.

The good news is, after that he got friendly with her, a couple of weeks later.
