heyyyy... been lurking around here a while now, thought I better sign up, lol.

I have a brand new sun conure bubby named Loco, named so because he is crazy! always hanging upside down and making crazy noises... he likes to watch the wild lorikeets and cockies out side, and I think he is about 5 months old.

Welcome to the forum.

Babies are so much fun. Everything they see is something new to them.

I rescied a 1 year old Amazon :amazon2: Myrtle who had no enrichment. Every day is something new fpr her to see and learn or destroy.

Sorry - I am typing in the dark because the birds want the light out and I have a cat on my lap. LOL

silly cat!

that's lovely you rescued her, we don't really have parrot rescue places in australia.

it is very fun to watch Loco, even when he tries a new food his eyes go wide and he makes crazy noises.

I rescued her from a private owner who would have let her die.

:amazon: The woman who rehomed/rescued :amazon: Rambo to me originally stole him from the same kind of situation.

There are many unwanted birds that people don't know what to do with so they just ignore them.

Somewhere in this forum a man had a job that he had to go to different houses. He went to one where there was a dirty cage and skinny birds. After work he went back and asked for them. They gave them to him.

Keep your eyes open. They are evrywhere being neglected.

Algebraic,

While I also got my GC as a baby, we do have parrot rescues in Australia, so it is an option. I don't know where you are located, but Parrot Rescue Center is a major one, based on the Gold Coast near Brisbane. It also has a branch in Sydney. Most RSPCA's also have parrots (mainly australian parrots), and there are always second hand parrots being given away on www.gumtree.com, too.
I sometimes wish I had rescued a parrot rather than supported the breeding of them!
