New guy from South Africa

Postby Willa* » Wed Nov 02, 2011 3:11 am

Hi guys!

I came across this forum in desperate need to find help raising my cockatiel.
My birdie is about 10weeks old now, but every time after I fed him his "porridge" he starts doing a screeching noise and no matter what I do he doesn't stop for about 10 minutes.

I am struggling as swell to teach him how to eat seeds on his own.

If you have any tips please do share!

Feathery regards
Willa

Welcome to the forum! im a new avian "parent" too! your situation sounds frustrating! and i wish you the best! but the only advice i have for you is : is your baby warm enough? I volunteer for a wildlife rehabilitation center and when feeding "infant" animals they need to be kept warm in order to digest their food properly, the enzymes in their stomachs dont work as well when they are cold. I know south africa should be getting warm but the air temperature may not be warm enough, you might want to try a heating lamp or snuggling with your 'little guy' after eating time. Good Luck!
