Parrot found in woods, Southampton - UPDATED - Owner found

Postby LinQ » Sun Jan 01, 2012 8:17 am

Hi everyone. I hope that it is ok to post this here. I have already posted on a pet lost site.

My husband & I were walking our 2 dogs in woodland in Southampton, Hampshire this morning & came across a parrot sitting on a branch about 5 feet from the ground. As we assumed it to be a lost pet, we brought it home with us & are now trying to find it's owner by advertising on pet lost sites. I also thought that this site would be a good idea.

We will look after it until we find the owner.

Welcome to the forum.

Be careful not to give to much information on him. I hope you didn't say that it was a grey. It would be awful if someone other than the owner claimed him. He sounds social. Make sure he interact well with the person who claims to be his owner.

Thanks for the advice. I have amended my post & perhaps you could alter your reply also?

Parrot found (then give the name of the town). His owner will be searching and answering any add that it could possibly be. All others will ask you what kind you found.

If he has a band around one of his legs, write down the number on the band and if an owner claims the bird, ask him the number, if he doesn't know it he probably won't own the bird (unless he forgets it). Also, if the bird actually likes an owner that claims him, then it is probably their bird. Good luck!

You can also request proof in the form of a picture. We all take pictures of our babies.

I cut Rambo's band off because of a foot problem. Myrtle never had one. I do have many pictures of them playing and getting into trouble.

Hi Phillipa

We found an African Grey parrot on1st January & were lucky enough to find the owners on 2nd January - they had posted "LOST" notices near where they live, which backed on to the woods where we found the parrot. We drove around the area with our own "FOUND" notices to post & found one of their "LOST" notices.

They only lost him on New Year's Eve, so he was not away from home for too long.

They popped round to see us on Friday evening with a huge box of fruit, a thankyou card, a photo of their parrot "Pugwash" & a bottle of wine. They were so pleased to have re-united with "Pugwash" & we were equally pleased that we had found his owners.

For those who may be interested "Pugwash" is 18 years old & they have owned him since a baby :)

I hope that your dad is re-united with his parrot soon.
