Hello from Colorado

Postby rpmnow » Thu Jan 05, 2012 9:42 pm

Hi, everyone,

I lost my Quaker Conure of 20 years, Skipper, on December 20, 2011. Naturally I'll be in grief for some time but I have gotten to the point where I want to learn more about him (as a species) like I should have years ago so I can discover more about whatever mistakes I may have made as I believe they're supposed to live 35 years. I've ordered new books off Amazon as a first step, and as a second step I doing things like joining this blog.

Of course I won't seek to obtain another parrot until I've finished grieving Skipper (tearing up now) as that would be unfair either to Skipper or any possible new little friend. Any potential new little buddy must be free to be him or herself and to form a bond with me without my projecting Skipper expectations. Just like us "humans," they're all individuals.

I also want to learn more so that maybe I can voluteer to work with resqued parrots here in Colorado and or do whatever I can in memory of Skipper.

I'm glad I found this blog. I think it will help a lot.
