Introducing myself to parrots

Postby parrotloki » Mon Jan 09, 2012 9:54 am

Hi everyone! I'm a beginner when it comes to taking care of parrots so I immediately registered here to get some help from professionals. I have some problems regarding my parrot named Loki because he is new to me and my dad bought it for me. My father forgot to ask what kind of parrot he is so I really don't have any idea what kind of parrot he is. All I know is that I want to keep him and I'm happy having a bird like him. So here's my number one problem.

Since we're both new to each other we still don't know that much about us. I want to get closer to him, I want to play with him whenever I get from school and I want to teach him some tricks. But I have a problem regarding on how will I introduce myself to him as an owner. Sometimes when I get him out of the cage he'll go back to his cage and never go outside. He seldom plays with the toys I'm giving him and whenever I place food on his cage and clean it he'll avoid me. It hurts to see Loki avoiding me especially I want to be closer to him. Can you suggest some tips so that he'll not be afraid to me anymore? How will I introduce myself to him as an owner? I spend most of my time with him everyday even though I'm already tired but still I try my best to present myself to him so that at least he'll recognize me as his owner. Kindly help me. :(

Thank you so much, I'll try posting next week since I can't spend too much time in my computer right now. =))
