hi,I'm Nils from Norway.

I am a lucky and unlucky owner of :gray: and :macaw:. The macaw(archie) was actually going to be my moms but for some strange reason archie look at me as the owner and now we are good friends even if he/she is just like a child.
So the gray(pippip) was supossed to be my moms intill he/she started bitting her, which is something of a shock to me because that bird is so peacefull and nice unlike archie which do bite and holds til he/she tastes blood. I don't know the gender of the birds.

This is Archie about to have a bath.

So if you are woundering why archie does not have feathers and looks somewhat of a chicken. I don't know, we bought him like this but now that he/she is free from the cage, he/she have stoped picking on them. Plus Archie gets allot of attention from me.

So I am here at these forums because I want to learn more plus that my other hobby has been taken over by the birds.

Sorry for my English and Grammar.

Welcome to the forum! You'll get plenty of help here. :)

Your birds are both beautiful, regardless if Archie is missing feathers or not.

Try some of these suggestions in order to help Archie's feathers to grow back:
1.Add flaxseed oil to the diet for a while.
2.Add lots of dark veggies (no pasta) to diet, such as spinach or kale.
3.Lots of outside time or purchase a UVB bulb.

"As for Flaxseed oil... just buy the pills from walmart and sqeeze the contents onto that days food every other day for about 3 weeks.

The red lored amazons I have were two of the crappiest looking birds I'd ever seen. I put them on a fresh food only diet for 2 weeks with flaxseed oil and added avian essentials (for trace minerals) and they shined right up. They're now on pellet and fresh foods like the rest of the flock."

Okay, WHO cut that grey's wings?!?! Whoever did that should not be near birds ever again!!
That poor thing would fall over like a rock. Well, thank you for taking them in, I would suggest daily showers and a very good quality diet, as well as lots of enrichment/foraging activities :)
