My flock and I are native to California, and we currently reside in Butte County California. My first large parrot is Ruby, a Congo African Grey parrot.

Ruby is a DNA sexed male and is going to be 3 yrs old in March 17 of this year. He is not a cuddle bug but loves head scratches and talks most of the day. I got him from a local pet store in Fortuna, California. The owner of the store was the breeder and did not want to sale me Ruby at first because Ruby was my first large parrot. She also told me that Ruby was their last baby African Grey because her breeding pair were getting into age where they began to produce infertile eggs. I had to learn as much as I could and what sealed to deal for me with choosing Ruby was that he bite when I was trying to prevent him from biting an Orange Winged Amazon that was younger than him. So, it was love at first bite.
My second parrot is Malachite, a Hawk Headed Parrot.

Malachite is a DNA sexed male and is about 6 months. I got Malachite from a reputable breeder 2 hours Southeast of my area. Malachite's parents originally are from the Sacramento Zoo, but were sold to the breeders who are still breeding them because the zoo had to down size. I waited two years for Malachite and almost like Ruby situation, Malachite was the only Hawk Headed chick their pair were able to produce last year.
