I would agree with the above, even if i grew up with birds around I actually had no birds myself... I would ask you to consider if your ready to raise a child, if the answer is no, then I would suggest playing with others (foster for rescues etc). They live for a long time so you take on a responsibility that will force you to make different choices in life for as long as the bird lives. No hollidays where you can not bring the bird, no schools away from home, collage etc (unless you can get your own living where pets are allowed and still have time for the bird when encumbred in studies) I currently work from home and attend Uni, but I do most of my Uniwork at home rather than in school due to my birds, wich means I miss out on the studentlife, with tuesday pubs etc etc, might not sound too tempting when your in fourth grade, but the studentpub will be tempting once your there. What affects you right now are things like having to tell your friends you can't go with them after school becouse you need to egt home and take care of your little baby (bird) and the bird will stay a baby in need of daily attention for the rest of its life...So I wouldnt recomend it to a kid, however I have seen kids that are amazing with their birds, usually their parents are quite involved as well, allowing the kids to still be kids...
