Hey there!

Postby Sellesion » Wed Feb 29, 2012 6:07 pm

I just wanted to say hello to all those other bird owners out there, and that I'm really excited to see what help this site can be on the road correcting my Amazon's behavior. Aside from that, I'll introduce myself, I'm Sellesion, but you can feel free to call me Selle. I'm 18 years old, and birds are my favorite animals, I'm yet to know one I don't have an appreciation for. I have a yellow naped Amazon that is far under-trained than he ought to be, considering I think he's about 12 years old now, going on 13. His name is Stitches, but I most commonly call him "Stitch"; However, on occasion "baby" and combinations like "my baby bird" all of which he responds to. I got him from his first owners whom were family friends of ours back in 2005. They were about to move across the country, and weren't sure if they could take him along. As well as trying to move, Stitches was also becoming very aggressive to nearly everyone in their household, and had taken liking to my mom. So they gave him to us and for a while he was a great family bird. Over time, he attached to me and things changed. I now live with my Dad and little brother, and Stitches is under my care.

Stitch has his problems such as being attached to only me, making loud honking noises during the usual times of the day (like Amazon's do...) and attacking those who he seems to consider a threat. I'd like to fix these things, and It's already in the works, but over all I know he's a good bird! :amazon:

Say Hi to Stitch! ^^

Welcome! :) Stitch is beautiful. If I may, that cage is very small! I have one much bigger for my budgie ;)

Oh, I promise the cage isn't as small as it seems there. He can spread his wings inside and has decent room to hang upside down. Also Stitch spends all except " bed time "outside of his cage, either on top of the cage or with me. :]
He's gotten into this habit of flying off the cage over to my bed to visit me if he wants up and I'm not coming to get him. Haha.
Thanks though! I do want to get him a larger cage when I have the space for it. I'd like to be able to give him more toys an' such than the 3 he currently has.

Stitch is my bird  ! Jokes aside (one of my birds is named Stitch as well, a white fronted amazon), welcome to the forum.

I too think you should get a bigger cage, even if its only for sleeping. How does your yellow naped even get in and out of that cage ^^?

I think that there are times that you have to cage your bird and in those cages I reckon it should have the best time possible of it =).

Haha! What a coincidence!
I know he needs a better cage, but really, the door could fit two of him probably... He just walks in an' out. Lol.. There's even this tiny door on the side that pops open and closed, and for a while I didn't know it was there, and when I found it I taught him to do a Houdini -esque trick, opening it and escaping from his cage... I kind of regret that now. Haha. He does it sometimes when he gets in trouble and I put him in there for "time-out"...
