Hello from new CAG owner

Hi,

My family and I have very recently adopted a 15 week old CAG. We got off to an excellent start but on the second day he had a flying accident requiring a trip to the vet and stitches on his chest. He also had a severe wing clip that day which means he cannot fly at all. Unfortunately this happened while he was under anasthetic in surgery so I wasn't present to prevent it. His (we refer to him as he!) lovely little personality still comes through, but it has obviously had an impact on him that he is injured so soon coming to live with us and also that he can no longer fly at all.

Although I've done quite a bit of reading on this forum and another specific to African greys, this is my first bird and I have lots of questions which I will post in the appropriate sections.

Welcome to the forums. You probably should have specified to the vet that you did NOT want your birds wings clipped.

WELCOME!!!! Vets should not be taking it upon themselves to clip anyway though, without the owners consent or request.

I agree with Evie. It's up to the owner, not the vet. Hope you did get a new vet btw.
