I have a mom of a lovely 14 yr old boy Congo African Grey, named Symba
My Symba, I adopted from a very nice couple last fall. I have waited almost 20 years for an African Grey and am very proud and happy to have him join my family!
My Laffy and Taffy, I got as 3month old "tykes" and they are quite a hoot! I have actually taught Laffy (who I have also nicknamed the "Talker") to say "Pretty-pretty bird, kiss kiss, and make kissing sounds, plus "Aabbie LEAVE-IT!" as our little MiniSchnauzer is often told
Taffy, (who I have affectionately named the "Muscle") is the one who has to "beat-up" things. He likes to throw his little ball across the cage and he likes to take his little plastic ladder with the mirror and "body-slam" it a few times every morning for good measure! It is really hilarious!
Along with my little menagerie, I have my 7 month old American Shorthair kitten, Sofie, and as I mentioned earlier, our little Aabbie, an almost but not quite 9lb mini-mini Schnauzer.
Due to the other animals, Laffy and Taffy, only get to go out of their cages on rare occasions (like when I lock up the other two in another room), but when they do, they fly around, but as I put their cage on the floor, they very obediently, fly down and march right in! I don't know HOW I got them to be taught this, but I do love that they do it...lol!
Symba often hangs out on his tree or his cage exterior, daily. He likes to observe the goings-on and has usually a response of some sort. He is a stoic one, but he really loves to tear up a good magazine on occasion...lol
The reason why I came to this forum was to share stories, but also to inquire among those of you who have experience. I am hoping to share anything I have learned along the way as well...
Thanks again for having me!
