Hi,

Can´t say I like the idea of just teaching a parrot to repeat a word, but would rather like to teach them in context like hi when I come home, and good night when I go to sleep etc. I thought that this age old technique was deat after so much research on these intelligent creatures, have to say that this asumes their lack of intelligence, which is a bad assumption in my books. Don´t mean to be harsh but given the information people can get online now they figure out pretty quickly that this is probably not what they want from their parrots (just repetition)

But good luck with the app. :)

Regards
Róbert

Welcome to both of you.

I don't teach words. They don't do what I want them to do anyway. They do pick up words like a child and sooner or later will make sentences out of them. In the mean time I get a list of Myrtles words about 10 times a day.

Rambo is 21 and beyond that. He even picks up phrases and uses them. The door bell rang on TV and he yelled "come in" for the first time ever yesterday.
