Hello

Postby Pluto » Sat Jun 02, 2012 5:57 pm

Im fairly new to the world of parrots, but have been researching them non stop for quite some time. I work at a pet shop (not in the bird department) and my eyes have been opened to how amazing of companions parrots are. in a few days i will be the proud new parent of a blue quaker parrot named Pluto. I first met Pluto when he/she was a just weaned little baby, and have been in love with him/her ever since. we have spent lots of time together at the shop and already started to build a bond between us. I look forward to meeting awesome people here on the forum and gaining lots of knowledge on training.

my co workers and i have been working on getting pluto to say "oh yeah" when you give him/her kisses, but now he/she just makes kissing noises when he/she wants to be picked up.

I have been working on "Hey baby what's up" for a yer now. Myrtle will say "hey baby" she will also say "what up". Just like kids. They never do it the way you want.

so pluto is finally home! she is such a little nut with the things she does!! :D she says words iv never said to her all the time now. and now she will tell me step up, instead of just making kissing noises.

so i have been doing some reading about quakers and have heard that having them flighted isnt such a good idea because of how much mischeif they get into and how mean they can become... whats your views on it with quaker parrots? :monk:

Congratulations on Pluto =)!

Ive replied in your other thread concerning clipping, but short answer, its a bad idea. Especially in the long term.
