New Senegal coming my way!!!! Me Happy Guy

Postby Peacockjp » Sat Jun 30, 2012 2:08 pm

I've owned and played with birds for most of my life. I bred and raised Parrotlets, Lineolated Parrots - and the tiny - african orange chested Finches. I owned a female Eclectus. I hand fed every chick - including those I was ultimately going to use for Breeding - so I was always welcomed putting my hands into the Breeding cages. I think that Lineolated Parrots are just naturally tame and sweet - so if you go to a bird show - seek out a Linnie Breeder and play with one of their birds. I also bought a baby female Eclectus. I've read lots of stories that the females would become nasty as they reached sexual maturity - but it never happened. Anyway, I had to rehome everything because of a seroious illness that landed me permanently in a Rehabilitation and Nursing facility. I asked the administrator if I could have a bird and she said no. And then she was fired for being ignorant and a butt head. When the new admin arrived - I asked again - and he said "Absolutely - I think i t's a great idea. I did lots of research and settled on a Senegal. For my space it's just the right size. I have her reserved, the new cage is on it's way - I've already set up a training table -(And may buy a training stand and perch or make a table top perch which can sit on the hospital table that swings over my bed - and she will be here in a couple of weeks. Her cage will be about 3 feet from me - so we will almost always be together or close It's made me so happy to sit for hours reading training hints - and other folks experiences. and just looking at pics of Senegals. Anyhow, I'm happy to be here - James Peacock - Peacockjp @ aol.com

Welcometo the forum. I have a Senegal named Mango that I purchased as a baby 12 years ago. You chose an awesome parrot. They are very loving and can talk fairly well with alot of training. Mine got training from my African Grey next cage over..lol..so his vocab is pretty extensive. They are one of the more quiet parrots and you will just love him i'm sure. Best of luck and i'm so glad he is allowed to come into your life.. :senegal:
