Proud new owners of a Yellow Fronted Amazon

Postby ImyKraig » Mon Jul 02, 2012 5:39 pm

hey guys .

Im a proud owner of a YFA :amazon: and was wondering if i could ask a few questions.

First how to i untrain him to fly straight to the shoulder and secondly how to train him to go back to his cage.

His previous owner had him free roam the house and was told that he was never in a cage. im not exactly sure how old he is but if i can get a pic of him i will upload it.

Thanks guys.

Gee - Myrtle justs slaps me in the middle of my back as I am walking and then climbs to my shoulder. I really hurt for poor Rambo.

Michael has information on indoor flight training on his Parrot Wizard blog. He explains everything step-by-step and I highly recommend it. He also discusses cage training and some food management.

Also, one of the Bird Tricks crew used targeting to teach a friend's bird, Rasta, how to go inside the cage on his own.
You can read all of the updates on his training here.
