New umbrella to home

Postby Coco puff » Thu Aug 09, 2012 11:21 pm

Hi there, well my story starts with the terrible loss of my best friend Julio,a double yellow amazon.he was well spoken and sang songs ,laughed and danced all day.
He was lost one day when the door opened and he flew into a wind storm in boca raton fl and was over our building and gone in seconds.

After weeks of posts ant fliers a close neighbor called and offered her yellow nape because she just didn't have time for this 30 year old bird.well the bird ,Nikki is loving and beautiful, but loves my wife and barely tolerates me.she was raised by women and well, you get the point.

I just adopted a beautiful umbrella too and 3 days into it he is the most loving 2 year old bird ever.i just hope he tolerates my my.he was raised by a man and shows affection for me.i guess it all works out.my wife has Nikki and coco seems to have taken to me.

Should I try to forse relation ships with yellow and should coco be pressured into dual partners.hoping for the best.

First time post..

Thx coco puff...

You and your wife just love them both. They may not bond with both of you but they will know you love them. If something happened to one of you the unbonded would turn to the survivior.

Where is the glades? Your location is not below your avitar. If you mean Florida then don't worry about Julio. He will be smart enough to find food and will have the underbrush and canapy to hide in.

Do you have a feeder and bird bath outside?

Hi there,I have a screened in porch 2 nd floor overlooking pool. Use mister and have large perch for either bird. And yes I'm in boca raton fl.im hopeful Julio being a 5 year old male and excellent flier ,that he has found peace and friends.

My other worry is my 2 year old too is also full flighted and have considered clipping ,but my heart won't allow it.if he gets out I would be devastated, but after one loss I believe im way careful.i will look into harness for sure.

Thx Liz .any thoughts on clipped would be considered...Jd

No clipping. Clipped wings is like putting a hobble on a horse so it can't run and exercise. A screened porch is great.

Everyone who comes here knows about Myrtle. I put a sign on the front door anyway that reads "watch out for flying Myrtle".

What I was thinking about the feeder and bird bath is you don't know how many birds are out there on the loose that need food and drink to survive until their owners find them.
