My boyfriend is really pissed now. He has a really ugly bite that will most likely leave a scar and he grabbed the red-belly in a bit of a harsh way to get him away from his face so.... listening to two very pissed off boys right now <.<

Welcome to the forum :)!
Tell your boyfriend to get over it, scars are part of parrot ownership ;). Ive got plenty from Stitch on my hands.

I'm just going to come to the boyfriends' defense. The hands are waaay different than eyeball or mouth region. :] I have seemingly permanent scar tissue on my finger from Nika but I think their complaints are a little more warranted hehe...

Jacko doesn't like any of my significant others either. She seemed ok on my last boyfriend (probably because he was utterly terrified of that beak and didn't put any pressure on her and let her eat out of the sunflower seed bag at will n poop on him at leisure). As for my current lover---they have an... interesting dynamic. She is more defensive and cheeky with him (because he tries to be 'the boss' and she knows that he's closer to me i.e. more competition).

She struck out at his thin pyjama-covered butt a few days ago because he got too close to me and her bowl of mash  I warned him not to get between me and her...and she's juuuust missed :P

I tried really hard not to laugh. She bopped him in the forehead once too---again his own stupidity. Generally speaking as long as he doesn't try to remove her from me, or move to quickly though she's ok with him. However she's not nearly as willing to behave for him as me.

As much as I understand your boyfriend's anger, he really needs to remember this is a strange cross of a wild animal and a toddler---he *needs* to be paying attention to body language and supervising. There could be something in his energy too....I have certain friends that Jacko loves...and one of my friends in particular she is very docile with...and then certain friends she is very antagonistic towards.

Glad to hear of a non-poi that gets jealous and aggressive! Those're some amusing stories. Sounds like he's gotten off easy thus far!

I might have misread the post then, I assumed he got bitten when grabbing the bird in a bad way ;), thus on the hands.

At least i know i'm not alone \o/
My boyfriend takes the whole bite thing with a sense of humor, at least. He says that if :redbelly: Sisu bites him again for no reason at all, he will just bite back.
In the meantime, i am trying to feed Sisu just twice a day. I hope that this way he will realize that i am giving him food rather than trying to make nuggets out of him. I hope it works!
I've decided not to try to take him out of the cage anymore for a week or so. I think he's already scared enough, poor guy!

P.D: has anyone ever considered to make rubber covers for parrot beaks? You know, so it hurts less when they bite... ;)

Lol, I like this idea alot, shame about the practicality.

Definitely read Michaels articles and get your boyfriend to as well if he will and take things slowly.
Some birds will never change regarding their behaviour around others but you can educate yourselves to work around things and learn his body language. I do believe most birds can though in the right circumstances- enough time, patience, training and understanding.

Haha Dave said the same thing!!

Yeah you might want to give your parrot a rest. Try just target training inside the cage. I started that way and it worked wonders. Nika equated treats with me and I could interact without fear of getting bit. She settled down pretty quickly (with me, not other people).

Today Sisu took a peanut laf from my oustretched hand :D
And just now i went to feed him and just like that he climbed on my hand, right up my arm and up to my shoulder :P :D
I know some people don't recommend letting them sit there, but it's the first time he makes this kind of approach.... should i discourage it?
