hi anthony1992, welcome to the forums!

will this be your first parrot? if so, i personally would suggest starting with a different species of parrot.

so if you were to categorize every species of parrot (i'm not going to do that as i don't know every species of parrot) into levels of "easiness" (keep in mind all parrots are a big responsibility), i would put greys at a level that requires a good amount of experience with parrots.

i am not quite sure of the similarities of owning birds of prey and parrots, but birds of prey sound like a big responsibility. did you take part in any of the bird's care?
that might give you a boost in experience.

also, what kind of noise level can you handle? every bird makes noise, but their shrieks and calls can be extremely loud. and what size can you handle?

some parrot species that i think might work for you if your situation is like the above are:
:gcc: green cheeked conures aren't to large, but can be loud, and also are huge cuddle bugs, but can be bullies to other birds.

:mlovebird: lovebirds are small, not as loud as conures from what i gather, and their bites aren't that bad.

:cockatiel: cockatiels are sweet hearts and love to be around people, plus their beaks are small and won't cause too much damage.

sorry my post was so long!

in any case i wish you luck in your search for the right bird.

If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

it depends on whether you're ready to care for a flying toddler for the next 60 years.i don't agree with the start with the easier bird.i tell anyone without experiance to find a shelter to volunteer or just to speak with if volunteering is not possible.there's nothing like up close and personal to see what you're in for and might change your mind about :gray: before you commit for life. my first was an :amazon: and i was nowhere near prepared fortunatly it worked out for both of us with alot of sacrifice and work.

i wasn't implying the whole "easier bird" thing. i just meant that some species overall have a less extreme personality than others.

and i totally agree with you pennyandrocky.

best,
lily

i got what you meant. but i've seen people get the smaller easier to handle birds then want to trade them in for the larger bird they wanted.i'm not saying you were suggesting that this person do that but if they get one of the birds you suggested and still had this desire for the :gray: it wouldn't be good for either.when i was ready for another bird i wanted a :feclectus: then the rescue told me about mya :corella: and when i went to see her they were fostering an :eclectus: and let me play with him while i was visiting mya. when i left i had no doubt mya was the one for me.
