Im new to owning a parrot

Hi,

I've taken on my brother IRN, due to him moving recently and his landlord wouldn't allow pets.
Ive had Pauly for 3 days now and id love anyone to help me and where do i start to gain Pauly's trust of me. He's still pretty timid and i put his cage right by my chair where i sit to get used to being close to me. I talk to him alot and and try to gain his trust. He was just coming down onto his perch nearer to me while i was typing this but when i looked round at him, off he went up to the corner of his cage. I really want to get him to trust me and come out the cage and spend time with me and my family in time. Does anyone have any helpful tips to a novice. thank you for reading xx

buy a calcium perch put it on the outside of the cage and put the cage near you and talk to him while you do stuff
