Hi from Holland

Postby Arjan » Wed Nov 21, 2012 4:41 pm

Hi,

I learned about the existence of this forum from the YouTube movies of Kili. :senegal:
We own a Senegal parrot (Bonteboer in Dutch) since juli 2012. We had two lovebirds before, but they both died. The first one from disease, the other one of old age. I wanted a bit bigger bird, but not too big. We decided to go for a Senegal parrot after reading lots of information on the Internet and visiting some bird specialists. My wife and I both have a full time job, so the bird needed to be able to entertain itself for several hours during the day.

Our :senegal: is a grey/green/yellow colored one. I don't know if it is male or female. It is now a few months young and already starts to have his mood swings :-) He has a morning temper :o In the evening when we are both home, he loves to walk and fly around the room. It is not clipped, because I would not like that either. The bird can fly easily through our room when we are at home. He knows where the windows are and brakes just in time to turn or land on the curtain :D

So far, it is a great bird and I really hope to enjoy it for a long time and to get it trained a bit. If I get half as far as Kili it would already be great!

Three months further and the bird is much tamer. It is not scared of hands anymore and loves to get scratched. Its only nasty habit is that he tends to climb on glasses standing on the table and throws them to the floor :?
