Pale Headed Rosella Parrot

Postby Cpt. Fantastic » Wed Dec 12, 2012 4:11 pm

Hello,

I'm new to the forum. I've been lurking on this forum for the better part of a year and have learned quite a bit.

My companion is a pale headed rosella parrot named Blue Jay. He is 21 years old. He is named after the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team. I was 12 when he entered my life and it was around the time the Blue Jays won their first world series, so at the time he was aptly named :) He has lots of blue feathers, so it still sort of makes sense ;)

I recently re-homed him, as he was living with my parents all of his life. I moved out 3 years ago and couldn't take only seeing him once a week. So I bought a new bigger cage and brought him to my condo and he's been extremely happy ever since. It's only been about 12 days, but so far, he is really enjoying himself. My parents weren't really very knowledge about birds so when I moved out, he'd only get out of cage time when I came over on the weekend. Now he gets to fly around (he's fully flighted) every day and seems very happy :)

We live in Toronto with my wife who has quickly become a bird lover too!

your rosella is beautiful. I have a bourke parakeet - he's another one of the Australian "grass parakeets" .

welcome to the forum! :)

I am so glad that you bird has such a good life now! it sounds like you have been with him for a long time and that is wonderful!

i look forward to seeing you around the forums!
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.
