Hi everyone :)

Hello everyone,
I just acquired my new Congo African Grey, Denzel, two days ago. He is 7 years old, and I got him from a man who only had him for a month. I am working on gaining his trust, and so far I have only been bitten once, so I guess I'm lucky, lol. His main problem is that he will not step up if he is on his cage or in his cage. The man who had him for a month was not going about things the right way, because he was just terrifying Denzel with a towel, in order to scare him off his cage. I am going to need a lot of help with this birdie, so anything would be appreciated!

Thanks!!
~Lynda

Hi again!
I have now had Denzel for a little over 3 weeks, and he has already bonded to me! I'm so happy with him! And he no longer has any problem whatsoever with not wanting to leave his cage. In fact, he is always with me when I'm home, and he doesn't want to go back to his cage anymore, lol. He's been talking more and more, along with a lot of whistles and sounds and laughing and mimicking dog barking and human coughing and sneazing and giving kisses, haha. He loves to cuddle, and he gets really sad when he has to go to his cage every night to sleep, because he just wants to stay with me! I got lucky!! :gray:

Be sure to make cage time fun as well as coming out of the cage. As Michael suggests, only feed your parrot in the cage and ensure that it is you taking your parrot out and putting him back, instead of the parrot deciding by itself. Treats can be fed outside the cage of course. Good luck!
