Hello From Cincinnati, OH

Postby cag40oz » Wed Jan 23, 2013 9:17 am

Hi my name is chris and I am new to this site. I just got my first bird a couple days ago. He is a 10 Week old Green Cheek Conure. My finance' really wanted one because her family had two sun conures when she was a growing up. His name is Prince Charming (she named him), and he is the baby of the house. Right now he is really nippy. He likes to bite fingers and anything in front of him. Yesterday I swear I thought he was wrestling... He would grab my finger with his claws and roll over on his back and nip at my fingers... It was so funny. He is definitely a character. But he is starting to bite a little harder and I don't want him to take it to far.

welcome to the forum, to you and your green cheek! i've got one too :gcc: :)

sounds like your GCC is quite the fiesty fellow! GCCs are huge parrots in tiny little bodies, so they do require training, consistent handling, etc like the big guys to manage their behaviors. the following are recent threads on this forum that i think would be helpful for you to read, to help you manage your GCC's nippiness/biting:

about GCCs and caring for them:

the principles discussed in this thread below would apply to how you handle your GCC:

as well as this one about a rowdy GCC:

all the best with your GCC! :gcc:
