I grew up around Cockatoos as a child, when we brought two back with us to the States. We lived there for 2 years in the late 60's/early 70's and they had become part of our family while we were over there, so when we came home, they came home with us.
Tucker has been my reintroduction to the bird world. And it's been so much fun! Some friends of ours found themselves in receipt of multiple birds and breeding pairs due to a terminal illness diagnosis of a friend. So Tucker was one of their first hatchlings, and a gift from them to my hubby and I, once he was old enough to "leave the nest". He will be approaching 2 years old in April so I guess we're doing pretty good.
Tucker is very talkative and has a really good little vocabulary going. He has learned to distinguish the between the colors of his jingle bell balls that he plays with. You can ask him to "get you green ball" and he'll go nudge that one over to you, so that you can roll it for him. He is definately a smart little bird.
By the way, hubby and I also have 4 house cats, a house rabbit, and 3 Quarter horses. All of our "kids" are furry or feathered.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you, and learning lots of new and exciting things about you and your birds.
