I got Shade DNA sexed

Postby Natacha » Tue Jan 26, 2010 7:37 pm

..and the results are in.

Turns out I was right from day one, she is indeed a female.

I actually had lots of people who told me that she was a male (not necessarily on this forum) and this never shook my belief of her being, well, "her". But when I went to the vet for a check up last week, I couldn't resist finding it out once and for all.

This means I know the sex of two of my birds (Red-bellied parrots being sexually dimorphic), there is three more to go...

Cool. I thought she was a female too. Guess that kills the mystery about it. I suppose it would be more valuable to know the sex of the Meyers parrots cause you have two and that could have an impact on their relations. Then again even if you find out, there's not much you can do about it and it's not like you're going to give one up cause you don't want them to breed.

Ha my Meyer's don't want anything to do with each other.
The two closest birds are Shade and Zuri and even then, Shade isn't really interested in much but occasional preening and playing.

I don't know if you were talking to Natacha or me but yes, I got Marvin and Noodle DNA sexed.
It wasn't necessary but I was too curious! Had to know!
