When I adopted my lovebird he was named Mathieu (Mah-choo), but because of the heavy french accent you have to use when pronouncing it, it made me feel like I was sneezing I didn't like it. I originally wanted to name him Milo but my husband would have not agree so I let it go.

The day before we got him my husband and I were laying bed and he was rattling off names. Most of them were random or had to do with hobbies we shared. Cassette stuck once I heard it pronounced with a french accent (it's cah-set instead of cuh-set). Everyone tells me it's a girl name, but I don't really care. He's such a little song bird that it really fits!

The others names we had for him were Piston (after a minecraft block) and Tony (after our favorite punk singer that passed away a few months ago).

Here is a list of the birds that I've named:

Jewelies - Peach faced lovebird (I named him this because he reminded me of an emerald. We called him Jewels)
Maginus - Blue Crowned Conure (I named him this because when I opened his cage, he jumped out and fell to the ground and my mom said "Down went Maginnie!")

Once the time comes for my flock to expand, I was thinking about naming what ever the bird may be "Pudin" (Pood-in). It makes me smile every time for some reason. :D :danicing:

I like this post as I'm having somewhat of a renaming issue: our last adoptee will be a grey monochrome-looking indian ringneck. Hes a male but his name is Leeloo, which I don't really like and its a girls name anyway....
And Im trying to somewhat match the sound of it .... with a male name... its really hard. ;)
(if anyone has suggestions....)

As for now, my other birds' names are:
Pesho (short for Peter) in eastern europe, somewhat of a peasant name, i always imagine a scruffy farmer.... and my alexandrine IS scruffy ;)
Akilles because my ringneck acts like he is fearless like a hero able to overcome all obstacles and battles
Echo my female timneh, that was her original name, but I like it as she is delicate as a nymph
Mango and Kiwi the lovebirds (those it isn't really complicated, all lovebirds seem to have fruit names no?)
Bimbo the lovebird (mening baby in spanish), even though I wanted to call him Poncho at first, as he seems to be wearing a long dress when he sleeps :D
Piri piri and Dijon (2 lovebirds I foster-homed and renamed, because they had fruit names TOO!!! ugh!)

i like the name piri piri.
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands.

Pralina, how about Pilu? It's pronounced like Leeloo. It's a kind of light raga...Indian classical music.

My family has always given pets human names, but my cockatiel Weebo was an exception. The aboriginal word for a cockatiel is a "weero", but I changed it to Weebo because it sounded cuter and when Weebo was a chick he was wobbly like the old egg-shaped weeble toys.

I'm still working on a name for my new Sennie, but it will be a human name this time. Currently Wendell is topping the list, for an amusing painting by James C. Christensen with a character by that name.

Also under consideration is Bishop, for the android from the 1980s movie Aliens. I know the actor who played the role, and I like the reference because Bishop was more "human" than many of his human counterparts.

I LOVE the name Elvis for a U2. Perfect!

Julian (male SI eclectus)- The name of my favorite exotic cat I worked with over the summer (a margay) and King Julian from Madagascar, which is my favorite kind of animal (lemur). He is my eclectus, my margay, AND my lemur all in one!

Echo (female parrotlet)- My cat has a Greek themed name, Echo comes from the story of Echo and Narcissus.

Furby (female Goffin's cockatoo)- The name Muffin just seemed so EW, and Furbys talk :)

Rocky (male bare-eyed cockatoo)- Came with the name, and fits well (like Rocky Balboa)

Archer (pineapple green cheek conure)- Picked his own name! When we were bringing him home we were going through names and he started chattering when we said Archer.

Athens and Sparta- (male and female Vosmaeri eclectus')- Athens (male) is the artistic, peaceful city in ancient Greece. Sparta (female) was composed of the warrior members of Greece. I like Greek stuff :)
Chelsea, Nick, Furby, Rocky, Echo, Archer, Julian, Drogo, Danaerys, Dionysus, Buffy, Gaia, and Snoop :)
