I wanted a bird for a long time before I adopted my sennie child, and I always planned to name the bird Tiki. Unoriginal, I know.

If I ever get a male sennie I'm naming him Link, lol.

All my birds came from somebody else so they all had names only some names were the wrong gender and, for those birds, I looked for a name that sounded similar... like Elliot became Ellie, Nathan became Naida, etc. There is only one name that was changed to one that did not sound at all like the original and it was a name the parrot chose herself (went from Randolph to Piquito).

I named my first bird Lucy after Lucille Ball because she was so silly. My newest parakeet's name is Kevin. We're not sure yet whether it is a boy or a girl, but it's name is going to be Kevin either way, after the bird from Up.

Originally I was going to buy a cockatiel and name it Charlie. But I ended up buying a blue Quaker instead.

So I thought that because Quaker's are from South America, I should give it a latin sounding name.
I named my quaker "Carlos" as it's the latin version of Charles.

My two Sennies came from an unsucessful breeder, I decided not to breed though.

They didn't come with names and were both very untame.

The male was particularly scared of everything and if out of his cage would run under stuff and disapear, at one point he even crawled under a cupboard, the space to fit under the cupboard was very small so I didn't bother filling it with newspaper as I figured he would never fit, I was half correct, once he squeezed himself part way under the cupboard (the cupboard was very heavy so there was no way I could safely move it without potentially causing injury to him), he couldn't move any further, using a bamboo pole to push him back out and a glove (he absolutely hates gloves) to wind him up, I managed to convince him to grab onto the glove with his beak so I could pull him out and then quickly block up the space with newspaper- That earned him the name Hide.

The female was always a little tamer and didn't seem as fazed by anything that went on around her, I wanted to give her a name of a strong female character so I called her Cain after Valkyrie Cain, in the book Skullduggery Pleasant.

Kiwi my parrotlet got her name because she is so little and green, should have names her apple or pear because when she settles on a perch she gets all round and fluffy.

Rio my Sennie got her name because we're not 100% sure she is female, so we picked a unisex name in case she turns out to be a he. I wanted to name her Apple or Mango, but I was out voted 2/1 by my daughter and husband who said, "enough with the fruity names." lol

I named my budgie Wheatley after the character in Portal 2. I wasn't sure what I'd name my newest budgie, but I settled on Sugar which I just thought was a cute name for the little sweetie.
