Check this out as well:
http://www.amazon.com/iRobot-Braava-380 ... d_sim_hg_8
Came across it through product reccommendations on amazon.
Apparently the Scooba, the one linked earlier, is for well sealed floors such as tiles, linoleum etc. This might be a better bet, its cheaper too and from the same company.
Reccommend that you read up on both prior to buying, I havnt done any research on these mopping bots :P!

paper_lantern, that's to funny;

HEY ANYONE GOT A DUSTY BIRD? LOL...

Hey wash that bird people, no crusty birds allowed, ok jokes aside, I couldn't resist...

Technically speaking it's 'Dander' not dust there is a big difference... :mrgreen:

So, I did just get a Cockatoo and I do see the dander flying around, all I can tell you is if you want a big bird, keep the place clean, don't own carpet in the house.

Me personally I clean up around my birds several times throughout the day, I don't let to much mess build up, and I wipe down with like lysol sprays...

So clean, clean clean, it's the only way to keep a bird...

You know... I actually do not agree with disinfecting everything. If you do, the immune system becomes weak.

I HAVE to keep my house, and the cage area, clean. I live in a 100 year old house with an urban farm. If I didn't keep a clean house, I'd have an infestation like you wouldn't believe. And I can't deal with that, I am terrified of bugs.

Every night, I start by sweeping the floors, because it's amazing how far a parrot can toss food, lol
Then I remove her papers, clean the bottom grill and change papers
Use soap and water to wipe down parts of the cage that need it, like stuck seeds and poop
And then I mop the floors and cabinets with wood-safe disinfecting wipes

Cleaning the dander is good for the bird and for us and for well being. It's feng shui, people! lol :lol:

Not disinfect the cage, I agree -- Avian vet says soap and water works fine.

So far I only have one but as Pajarita has advised, I'll probably get another. But YES on that mopping robot, for sure! A definite in the future!

We're looking at getting a purifier as well, either a honeywell tower (but the models available here have somewhat sketchy ratings) or this:
http://www.bionaireeurope.com/Product.aspx?cid=1191&pid=13712
Reminds me of Portal and looks funky! Hepa filter and covers quite a large room size as well.
Ionizer can be turned on/off.

Bought this, it works great.

Pajarita, and anyone else that uses the ionizers on their purifiers, I did more research on them and they all emit low levels of ozone regardless on the type of ionizer. I know you believe that there are two different kinds of ionizers and while there is, all of them DO emit ozone. Read the fine print.

The specific ionizer used by Honeywell (and Bionaire), which I believe you have emits levels under the established limits, 50ppm in europe and I think its the same in the US, but Bionaire (and I seem to recall seeing it from Honeywell as well) caution agaist ozone build up and warns that it can be dangerous to small pets and birds, as well as reccommends that the ionizer is only used in a well ventilated area.

Use at your own risk, I am not gonna risk it, ozone is not good.

Oh something I forgot to mention, even when I'm sweeping around the house, besides the bird dust/dander I wear a Respro mask, this is the one I have I bought online;

http://respro.com/store/product/metro-mask

They use a Hepa filter in them, these things are really hardcore for filtering out whatever you need, dirt, pollution, dust, pollen, etc...

They make a lot of different models for various uses...
