Update on Troy, Ohio parrots?

Postby paper_lantern » Fri Jul 12, 2013 8:45 pm

Does anyone remember that tragedy in Troy, Ohio back in 2011? A bunch of birds were being kept and hoarded in an abandoned house, many were dead or sick. If you google the pictures, I guarantee it will ruin your day. Does anyone know what became of these birds? The last update I could find was from 2011, about 10 of the parrots had been rescued but there was an ongoing battle to rescue the rest of the birds because the owner was pressing charges, saying the Rescue group "stole" the parrots from him. Were all the parrots eventually rescued? Was the owner prosecuted? This is really bothering me..

Yes, I remember this case. The rescue people found dozens of dead birds, some on the floor, some in cages, some hanging from perches and nets - it was awful! The rescue that went in and was coordinating the whole thing was the Miami Valley Bird Rescue in Troy, Ohio and the name of the lady was Kim, I think (I used to have a prodigious memory but I am getting old -LOL)
