I was just so let down by someone I expected more from, and I'm glad looking back because it gave me a real need to find better information in the long run. There have been times where I wanted to erase myself from ever existing on this forum but you can't really do that here. I will just do everyon the favor of not posting here anymore. Its better for my mental peace anyway. All in all I feel foolish because I must be the last person in Kansas to realize that when someone calls themself a wizard, it is smart to look for a man behind a curtain.

I really hope you don't leave, Caitlin. I apologize if my post had a strong tone; I guess I'm lost here ...

Either way, you have friends here, and I would hate to see you leave.

I will try to make suggestions if I feel I have something that may help even if the species is one im not familiar with however that is what they are-suggestions or what I would try in that situation. Whilst my problems may be different to others I have often found it helpful just to step back and start again from the very very beginning (hence the reading a book suggestion) as sometimes that can help you see where you went wrong or a bring a fresh perspective to the problem. Also whilst I try to cite sources sometimes its hard to remember where I read something. Personally I take the view that unless I feel it has the potential to do harm to the bird or the relationship with its caregiver then I will make suggestions based on what I have learned from others and my own experiences. Lets face it if we all waited for someone to come a long with the exact same species and the exact same problem then we would all be waiting a very long time for replies especially given the majority of people make a few posts then disappear.

Sorry cml, I have only just seen this. I'll update the post I made a few months ago and include the birds welfare there rather than clog this thread up.

I agree with Michael in that there are two different people who ask questions on bird sites.
And in the beginning I made mistakes too which I am ashamed of, but after all my hard work researching and reading books and talking with other parrot owners, I tend to also alienate new bird owners sometimes.

It is understandable that parrot owners get upset with new parrot owners, we know the hard work that is required to be a good parrot owner and we might not even know why we are getting upset but its because we are trying to protect the life and well being of another parrot out there.

I even want to tell people: Don't get a parrot. You should not be allowed to get a parrot until you've read 20 books and talked to an avian vet and researched online for hours and hours and studied parrot nutrition and animal enrichment and then maybe those seasoned parrot owners will hold a vote and determine if you get your "parrot licence" pending home check approval.

CML and wolf I really respect your posts and use your info. I miss the older members who were here when I joined. They had "Old hand" knowledge. The young ones have done research and gained knowledge to share. I don't know what I would have done without you all.

I sometimes sound rough because I get upset or excited when something is said wrong. Being "Yankee" I don't flower my sentences like the "Southerns" do.

When Rambo came to me I was the student. He had to teach me what to do. That boy surprised me daily. I wish I had joined back then to get your knowledge.

There is a song: "I'm just a soul who's intentions are good Oh LORD please don't let me be misunderstood." That's me. If I mess up - I do take constructive correction. Don't hesitate to correct me.

Hello Liz :), glad to see you back around the forums again! I too miss some of the members that have disappeared, but there's nothing to do, it is how it is with forums :(. Lot's of nice new folks here now, but the tone of the forum has changed slightly.

How's your flock doing, Rambo and Myrtle up to their usual antics :)?

Since I am one of the new parrot owners on here, I guess I will throw my two cents in. The one thing that everyone needs to realize is that we are reading what someone is writing. We can't hear how they say it. Someone that we feel is blunt, might have a great amount of passion in their voice. And if we were talking to them face to face it just might sound different. I had a CEO tell me once and it just might fit in here. It may not be what I want to hear but it will be what I need to here. So I try and when I post on here to think of how that person would sound saying it to me face to face. At the same time when you answer some ones post you need to think about how they sound. Like some one who writes I NEED HELP That person is upset. So just maybe we need to work with that person a little bit, This person is asking for help, so lets help them first (if we can). Once we help them then we can try and explain what went wrong, and help them correct it. As a new guy just my two cents. :gcc: :jenday:
