Lol! Are you playing Angry Birds? (Sorry, bad joke lol)

That makes me chuckle because oh man, the memories of how my Sennie would attack my cell, too... I think pois in general hate the attention we give to the cell phones. Chance, on the other hand, is a HAM and practically POSES for camera photos!

I'm guessing that someone knows when she's the center of attention. How's Chance with your husband? Are you doing anything to prevent that kind of jealousy?

Has anything been destroyed yet?

She definitely IS the center of attention! And no, I am not affectionate with him in front of her to prevent jealousy, as I want her to accept him. She has let him scratch her so far, a good sign.

She has not destroyed anything, but there are some bite marks on my computer chair. Interestingly, she's not really playing with her toys. She seems content to be a perch potato and talk my ears off... her vocabulary is amazing. Will she ever want to play with her toys? She does like to dance to music, which is really cute.

Chance sounds like a real sweetie. :gray:

I can say from personal experience that even I get jealous when I'm trying to have a conversation with my husband and he's interacting with his phone or iPad, or if he has to take a long business call while we're away on a weekend together. I can only imagine that it's much harder on a bird, who spends a LOT more of its waking hours socializing with its kind than we do.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, people in modern western culture socialize with one another at levels that are quite low compared to more traditional cultures. When I worked as a teacher in a rural village in Central Asia, it was amazing to me how tightly-knit and intensely social the community was. No one had the concept of "alone time" or "personal space". The nuclear family was unheard of, as several generations would live together, and neighbors' families were constantly dropping by unannounced to chat or share a meal. In their world, if you were by yourself too long you would become "ill" and might even die. Needless to say, they worried about me being away from my family -- so much so that they decided I needed to be temporarily adopted.

Lol, you know what she said to me this morning? "You're stupid." Lolz. Although she may have been talking to my spouse, as he was in the same room :D

Hahaha, yeah, this is true! WE get jealous over such things, why shouldn't they? :D

No doubt! :D

Oh, and GreenWing -- I just wanted to say I was going over some older posts, and came across what had happened to your previous bird. How heartbreaking! Perhaps, though, by bravely sharing the story of Tiki's escape you have helped someone else to be that much more careful with doors, etc. I know I will try my best, but there are no guarantees in this life, are there?

Thanks for sharing, and best wishes with Chance,

W

Kookooloo, :gray: very often refuses to step off of me. She just bow her head and asks to be scratched, or if I am asking to step off to put her in her cage she will step off with one foot and hold my finger for a while, until she decides to either let go or step back up.
As far as toys go, it is kind of hit and miss. She most often rings her bells to say she wants something or to say she is mad about something. All other toys I have to show her how to play with or she will just avoid that toy until I start to play with it.
Her most favored things to do are to sit on my hand had see how many ways that she can kiss me, always with a proud whistle after each kiss, or she wants down on the floor to go exploring, mostly into the bathroom.

Right now, although very jealous, she is helping to calm Mimi, our new amazon. Kookooloo spends hours talking to Mimi when Mimi gets upset. Mimi, is grieving- I think. This is totally new for her and she talks about 2 dead birds, she did see two of her friends (parrots) die. This is difficult but is another story.

Glad things are going well with Chance.

Kookooloo sounds adorable, Wolf! I think it's really cute that Kookooloo likes to explore and waddle around. Chance is content perching 90 percent of the day. She'll step-up for me, be on my shoulder for a while, and I'll have her perch in the shower and she'll watch me bathe, lol (she's joined me once, but she seems to prefer bathing in her water-bowl).

Kookooloo is a bit jealous of the other birds, eh? If I were to get another bird it would be a Sennie, like you. However, I don't think I'm going to get another bird... I think Chance is it. She's definitely like a toddler and I spend a lot of time with her and cleaning up after her.

Chance's vocal abilities are pretty amazing. Imma have to make some youtube videos, I think. Her vocalizations remind me of Tui, the CAG you can view on youtube. Get this: yesterday she called me a jerk AND a slut! LOL! But she is also EXTREMELY affectionate and tells me "I love you" throughout the day. She's also said "You're beautiful" and "you're pretty"... what a character ♥

Greenwing, how wonderful! Chance sounds like a real... sweetie? I don't know, after what she's been calling you. You know, it occurs to me that I've never seen a Grey in flight. They seem like perch potatoes to me... does Chance fly at all?

I've been told that Greys are strong and fast fliers but Chance isn't a good flier, sadly. Also, I never saw her attempt to fly until today when she tried to fly at the bed. She landed on our hardwood floor and didn't seem happy about it, although she was okay. I would definitely say she is a perch potato! She is content perched outside of her cage on the cage door where she spends most of the day, talking to me and preening. She preens a LOT, but I guess this is normal. My sennie would preen a lot as well and -- if you ask me -- I would say my sennie was just as dusty. Chance is considered petite for an African Grey and is only about twice the size of Tiki.

I had no idea Greys were perch potatoes, as she is not hyper and reactive like my Senegal was. Tiki had such a boisterous personality -- she was everywhere flying around the house, wanting to be on me, screeching when I'd leave the room, etc. Chance never screams, just talks and makes little noises, and she chills out as she perches. I'd definitely describe her as "pretty chill" for a bird. She gets scared about some little things and even said to me "I'm scared" over things like a crust of bread, and noise my spouse was making outside while he was working on the yard. Greys are known to be phobic and I would say she is showing signs that she is.
