NEED HELP!

Postby mscoulter » Sun Apr 13, 2014 10:44 am

I have a parrot emergency... My 10 year old quaker has always liked to play with covered elastic hair bands. About half an hour ago, she somehow managed to get the elastic hair band around her neck. She is now flying around like a bat out of .... and is freaking out because she can't get if off her neck. It's not tight around her neck, but she's just freaking out because it's there.... She is clearly in great distress over this and is trying to get it off. I'm unable to catch her or cover her with a towel to snip it off. I'm afraid she'll end up getting caught on something, and she's going insane with this thing around her neck. She's trying to get it off herself, but it's just small enough that she can't slip it back over her head. My son's stepmother is a veterinarian and suggests covering her and then snipping it off, but I can't get her still long enough to do that. She's also a biter and I know if she bites, it's going to be a painful one... ANY IDEAS??????? I know it's time to put the elastic hair bands up... I never dreamed this could be a problem

As they say, man up and just do it. Screw the bites, your bird can die unless you intervene quickly! Whats a little blood against a dead friend?

You will need to catch her ASAP and cut that thing off, your parrot is in lots of danger right now, and the stress isnt helping either.

Best of luck, and welcome to the forums.
