Indeed you did, Marie! Calling for help and waiting there for them to arrive was the right thing to do. Nobody expects anybody else to put themselves in dire danger... it's the walking by and doing nothing that is inhumane.

That's heartbreaking! You did the right thing, and I'd hope maybe seeing you act in such a way will in the future trigger someone into remembering and acting accordingly.

A few years ago I was getting a soda from a convenience store near my house. As I was paying, an older gentleman slipped and fell near the register. There was a line of about 5 people. No one did anything. I dropped everything onto the counter (spilling my soda...) to go help him. And then, NO ONE helped me get him up. I was so furious at the people, that after ensuring the gentleman was ok, I chastised them for their inaction and lack of compassion. Made some big burly men drop their heads in shame. Still makes my blood boil.
