lost lilly

Postby AnimalAffinity » Tue Mar 10, 2015 7:30 am

In my bedroom I have a window that's loose, the winter the ice must have held it shut, it got really warm yesterday for a while and the window swung open just enough for one of my budgies to escape before I saw it. She was in a tall tree yesterday and the fire dept came but couldn't help. Last night it got in the twenties and I can't find her. I'm devastated I feel like I really let her down and I don't even know if she's still alive. Do you think she could have survived? What should I do?

Keep looking. Open the window again in case she finds her way back on her own. Your contact will be by sound so keep calling. Let everyone know you are looking for her.

The birds who migrate to a warm climate are not doing it for the warmth. They do it because their bug and nectar food supply runs out in winter.

Lilly could have survived the cold. She could have followed a wild bird to a sheltered area.
Keep calling all day. Just before sunrise and at sunset is the best time to get your voice through the common noise around you.

I don't remember who but one of our members found his bird in a park. He was tipped off by someone who knew the bird was out.

Keep looking.

Do you have a bird feeder outside to draw the wild birds in? Like I said he could be traveling with wild birds.

I have red tip bushes in the back yard that have grown to 20 and 25 feet tall. Multiple species roost or nest in them. When Bubba my cockatiels escaped he stay around the house for three day just out of my reach. He was trying to call his mate, Sweetie, to join him. He slept in the red tips with a little flock but when the flock moved on he went with them. I was devastated.

Keep trying.

you would be surprised, a friend of mine reunited a very exhausted budgie with his worried owners a few years back. According to the owner he had been missing over a week. You certainly hear a lot of stories about the larger species being found after several weeks, months and less commonly years so don't give up yet, just spread the word as far and wide as you can.

Calling and searching for her, I put her mate outside for a couple minutes and left a cage with food outside in case she came back. I also posted a couple lost ads...
