I remember they had a problem with the 9/11 memorial lights some years back because they would draw the migrating birds in and they had to shut them down for the migration. I wonder how the migrating birds are able to fly through the night and what altitude they are flying at.

There are studies that show they navigate using stars and the earth magnetic fields as guidance.
