I sent it to you on messenger, Bea.

I’ll try to get Christine to give me a copy on YouTube or something easy.

Should cockatoos and greys be hormonal right now? Ours are.

I made a foraging pepper instead of a foraging box. They’re saying the box boxes are making them more hormonal. I think it just exemplifies it, but I pick my battles. Boxes make the cages harder to clean, anyhow.

I've never believed that preventing a bird from performing a natural behavior helps in any way [I think it's another one of the 'man knows better than nature' things]. It's akin to clipping... If you ask me, denying them the relief of doing what their body asks them to do creates completely unnecessary stress to the bird. People always want to be in control of everything when it comes to their animals and, although it works very well with dogs and other domesticated animals that we can castrate, I don't think it works at all with undomesticated species that we cannot prevent from producing sexual hormones when they are 'in season'. I mean, the hormones are still going to be produced whether there is a box there to chew or not but the bird will remain calmer if it can do what it's supposed to do - that's the way I look at it. But then, I don't have overly hormonal birds.

A 'foraging pepper'! Great idea but it looks as if he/she likes the 'bowl' more than the actual filling  And boy, that other bird can scream, eh?
