She is getting supplements. Milky something or other. Aloe juice or something like that. The pellets are special low fat stuff.
There is also something that is put on the sore on her foot.
The foster mom gave me a bunch of links to holistic treatments for birds inner condition. They have worked well on some birds. I think the aloe was one of these. I'd imagine they're reporting only the success stories in such a link.
My vet is Elisabeth Simone-Freilicher. She's an avian vet at Angell Memorial in Boston. I'd care for Tanya in the manner she suggested. I am assuming they her care will cost several thousand dollars per year. I know I am not the ideal person to adopt her, but unless Paj wants another bird I'm not sure there are any better options. Im not home 24/7, but I am fully disabled and don't really have a job. I do a little stuff here and there, but it's mostly radio and production stuff and done at night when good birds should be asleep.
The combination of being home 24/7 and having the money for the vet care is a rare thing, I think.
