I'd be looking at adopting her, not fostering her. I'd be responsible for the medical bills.
I think the rescue usually charges $400 to adopt an Amazon. I'd ask for that to be waived. I'll spend more than that on the first vet visit.

Well, that's very generous of you... maybe they can do something like we used to do at Waggin' Tails when we got a dog that was too sick to be adoptable, we called it Permanent Fostering and it was understood that the animal would remain for the rest of its life with the foster family but the medical costs were shared between the foster home and the rescue - mostly because the rescue got discounted prices at the vet and also because it's pretty unfair of a rescue to adopt out an animal that is in such a bad condition that would require expensive treatment for the rest of its life. I am all for been generous but, in a situation like this one, I would suggest you ask about some type of an arrangement...

Oh, poor thing! She has such difficulty walking, doesn't she? Have they taken XRays of that leg and foot? Because it looks as if the toes have been broken and healed stiff or maybe they did not heal yet...

Are you adopting her, Navre?

They still have to do a home visit, which might take a while since I live so far from the rescue.

Both of her feet are bad. The "good" one has been improving. Her foster mom does exercises with it every day, trying to get her to perch. The bad one seems like it's beyond hope, but the first thing I'll do with her is take her to my vet for a work up anyhow.

Echo, the grey who looked plucked (but had actually had a run-in with fly paper) was adopted. We had all those greys and now all the girls are gone. We still have Ashes, a giant male CAG, and Nicholas, a male TAG.

I finally found a cockatoo who doesn't want to kill me. Fred is a goffins. He steps up for me, loves head scratches, and says, "I love you," over and over.

We now have both a male and a female eclectus. They are really hard to read. So little in the way of body language.

 Yes, they are! Ekkies are so very different from all the other parrot species... social grouping, diet, breeding and, yes, body language! Nothing that one knows about it seems to work with them, does it? And, because they never do 'warning nips' and always go for the kill, they can be quite dangerous, too. I still have a side of one finger with no feeling from a bite from a female SI ekkie!

Nicole just told me that there has been a change in Tanya's droppings. Hopefully it's another sign of improvement.
