To be fair to Bucca, I've seen the all the Goffins bite people, even the super-affectionate Fred. They seem to get over-stimulated and too excited, and then they bite. I've seen the Citron bite, too.
I don't think I've ever seen Bucca bite anyone. Probably because he is so loud, seems so aggressive sometimes, and everyone is pretty cautious with him.
In the video there, I was getting worried that he was getting too excited. He usually sits in the door of his cage and plays catch.
What you can't see, but can probably hear, is Edward, the B+G macaw who is super attached to Rachel, the woman in the video. He was out of the cage behind me. My fear was that Edward's screaming was riling up Bucca, and with Bucca showing interest in Rachel, we were going to end up with an international heavyweight fight, Indonesia, vs Brazil.
Even when only one bird is out at a time, I worry about someone flying to the top of the wrong cage and losing a toe. My grey took the toe off of a cockatiel 20+ years ago, and SHE was fairly mellow.
For the most part, the birds don't fly, but they can still cage hop their way into trouble.
The other day, Nicholas, the Timneah, decided that he did not like the new, big cage I had set up for him. He wanted his old, rusty, small cage back. I wish he had just decided to bite me, but instead he decided to show his displeasure by pretending that he was that little chicken hawk from the cartoons (the one who used to go after Foghorn Leghorn,) and going after the biggest bird in the place. Nicholas flew off and landed over on the Macaw cages, between Dutch, a GIANT greenwing, and Edward, a very aggressive B+G who defends his cage like it's the Margineaux Line. Another volunteer was over there and, although she could not reach Nicholas at the top of the cage, threw a towel at him just in time to make him fly and save his foot from Edward. Nicolas landed on Dutch's cage. Nick managed to jump to the floor and hide under Dutch's cage before anything bad could happen. He actually let me reach under there and pull him out without biting me.
