Awwww, lovely birds all of them! And, actually, Buddy looks better than Linus which, unfortunately, (and I hope from the bottom of my heart that I am wrong!) I seriously doubt will ever get better from his plucking. Sometimes, Shira, if they have been doing it for a long time or the reason is something that we cannot fix (emotional trauma when young), they not only never stop plucking but also never get to live a happy life no matter what anybody does for them. Some parrots do moderately well in captivity but there is a percentage that suffers very deeply...

Buddy just came out of quarrentine and he is currently in the office, just off the main room. I think it's to see if he can transition to the main room or if he is going to need Foster. I can see that he prefers the people he had seen in quarrentine, even though he'd only see them each once a week, or so. (I'm not allowed in quarrentine)

He seems like he needs extra attention. It will be interesting to see how he does with access to more people. I know that there was another too who started wearing a petal collar to keep her from mutilating. I don't think it was corrective, I think she's going to wear it forever. (Maxie is her name).

Buddy just looks scared...In his eyes...Looks lost.

Tiki calls for Buddy, but there is a possibility, fairly strong, I guess, that "Hello Buddy" is something he knew before he came in. I hear a lot of people call a lot of the birds, Buddy.

Buddy doesn't make much noise. He is currently next to Splash in the office, which isn't something I'd have done. It seems to me that some of the more nervous birds get annoyed by the way a small, skittish bird like that budgie flies around.

Because Buddy was found on the street, I hope it's the recent trauma he has been through and the separation from his family that have make him pluck so badly. If that's the case, maybe that's something he can get over.

He is leaving his skin and flesh alone, at least. I think Maxie got the petals because she was tearing at the flesh.

Buddy also does seem to want to be with people, so I think, given that, people might have a chance to make him happier.

Are there different species or varieties of Ekkies? Hope, the female, seems to be about half the size of Sebastian, our male.

Splash was found when he dropped into the water in front of a kayaker on Little Pond. She thought he was a goldfinch at first. He's super skittish and wild-like.

Splash has already been adopted! Went to a home with a single Budgie.

Had a feeling that Splash would be adopted quickly.

Sometimes the Budgies and 'Tiels stay a long time. The adoption process isn't quite as rigorous for them, though. I guess at one point the rescue had so many 'teils that they had to stop doing home visits and just take recommendations from volunteers or do phone interviews.

And it only makes sense, if you ask me! I remember years ago I used to belong to another forum where there was a lady who volunteered at The Gabriel Foundation and she would periodically post about one bird or another -the same way you do, Navre- and, one month, she posted about the budgies, they were asking $100 adoption fee for each - now, I ask you, how STUPID is that?! Who is going to pay $100 for a budgie that you can get for free in Craigslist?

If Buddy likes to ride people's shoulders, he has a chance. The problem is when they can't 'connect' to humans or birds... Linus is like that, I think. He is not afraid of humans, he is not aggressive at all and even likes a good head scratch and would, often (not always) step up for you but that's it - he would rather be on his own than be with you and that's not good for a too.
