One of our DYA has some black nails. I wonder if they can DNA test for species make up like they do for breed in dog?

I don't know if they do it with amazons but I know they did it for the eclectuses because breeders were making pairs of different subspecies without knowing to the point that some people say that there are no real purebred eclectuses anymore, they all have some kind of a mix...

Paco, the DYH went home this week. He was the most prolific talker in the rescue. He was always singing and talking. I'll post pictures and video of him when I can. I'm glad to see some Amazons getting homes

Recently we have taken in a 14-year-old Greencheek named Jack, a female Greenwing macaw named Tico, a blue Crown Conure named Frankie, and a bonded pair of Macaws (Blue and Gold, and Greenwing) named Johhny and Wanda. They're all pretty remarkable birds.

In my internet meanderings, I ran across this Patagonian-Blue/Gold Macaw cross... at least that's what they think it it. I always get a little heart-throb when I see any Patagonian, and I got one looking at that bird!!!!!!!!! That's a Rickeybird beady eyeball and patch, and a macaw beak, and turquoise Rickeybird flights, and macaw feet. I wonder what he sounds like.

This is Max, or Max GW, as we have a Max Blue and Gold, too (I call him Max Gibbs)

Max is a 35-year-old, female, greenwing. She is amazing. She is the most affectionate macaw I have come across. She loves for me to hold her and scratch her head, and she loves to groom my hair and beard. She is a bit underweight. She lost her breast muscle from years of not flying, but she seems otherwise healthy. If i had room for a macaw...

A lot of the videos are up on the Facebook page of the rescue. I suppose I could transfer them to youtube and post them here, but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to.

There is a nice video of Max in the aviary on the page.

Wow, that's pretty amazing. I always wonder about the health of those birds.
