Lovely pictures. What wonderful things you're doing for those birds.

Oh, hey... did anybody ever respond about that grant-writing... did I miss a message, maybe?

I know I asked, but I don't know if they ever answered me. Turns out, unbeknown to me, that my daughter has been writing grants for the past few years. She is in her senior year at Yale, and it's also he first year of Grad school ther, so she's too busy to help, but she told me she would edit stuff for me.

 Poor Max has the sum total of two feathers growing on his belly! And, yes, birds that can't fly have that emaciated-looking chest. My Freddy still has some of it but he has gotten a bit of 'filling' in there lately.

Okay, thanks, Navre...

The Rb is proud of his bust. He literally fluffs out his chest feathers when he's putting on a show. He fluffs and then does his little hop-skip-swagger when he's feeling sexy. It's that time of year!

  That's right, Max Dos Plumas! As to the plural of eclectus, I don't know if it is eclecti, eclectuses or just eclectus...

It's probably like Stadia, Aquaria, etc. you can use the Latin plural, or add an "s/es," as long as you're consistent.

I've never run across a "cuddly" macaw, like Max. She is almost cockatoo-like. The difference is, Max seems to like everyone.

I have no experience with Patagonians. RB seems pretty cool!

He's a real character... I know I'll get no argument on THAT!!!!
Fully-flighted and fearless.
Does as he pleases. ONLY goes back in the cage when you toss a green chile (his favorite treat) in there.
Around ere, we need rescue from the BIRD!

Macaws are, actually, pretty laid-back birds and they do imprint very deeply to humans but they are not usually cuddly-cuddly so the poor thing must have had a dearth of affection for a long time...
