All this driving is going to kill me. Over three hours each way, some days. Trying to leave now, at 0515, to beat the traffic. It's only 80 miles, and should only take 1 hour 20 minutes.

You are a saint , if I was there I would take the early shift for you. Always awake early am , only time to myself. How's the birds doing and do they seem to be adjusting well ? Most are breeders aren't they , so are you able to cuddle and hold any to comfort them? That would be the hard part for me , mama instincts kickin in. :D BW

Yes, I was thinking about that myself... it won't be easy to find homes for ex-breeders.

Some are actually super friendly.

I have been staying mostly on the "clean" side, and working with our birds who have been there.

It's not allowed :(

The birds are evidence, and part of a court case.

Our Facebook page has been posting stories like this, instead of bird pictures.

For the next few nights, we want to highlight some of the special individuals and stories that have touched our hearts since we received the Weston parrots. Tonight we want to tell you about twelve-year-old Kirk Webster. Kirk is one of our junior volunteers who has been with us for about a year (pictured below holding "Beep", one of our birds who was recently adopted by the Webster family.) When Kirk found out about the parrot seizure, he was so upset that he decided he just had to help out. Kirk had just had a birthday and instead of spending his money on games or toys, he decided he would donate $500 to RIPR. Kirk's mom was so moved by her son's decision that she matched his donation. Young people like Kirk are very important to our rescue efforts. Not only do we welcome younger volunteers, but we highly value them. They have the potential to greatly impact the future of parrots everywhere. It's important that young people learn about these intelligent creatures and open their hearts to helping, since they will be the next generation to continue this work. We commend you Kirk, and your family. Thank you for your kindness!
