Well, I don't know... my male Senegal knows what 'wait' means. He asks me "Ready?" and I say "No, wait..." or "Ready!" and he knows the difference because, sometimes, he even answers himself and he always says "wait' when he can tell I am not ready to serve the food yet (it's always about the food :D ). Or he says "Here! Right here!" when he sees I am.

Rambo says "C'mere hurry hurry quick quick RIGHT NOW."

Rambo and Myrtle know all the dog commands including stay. My son laughs every time I tell Myrtle stay. They follow all the commands except "hush, quiet, shshsh and shut up".

They understand "you have to wait" but voice their displeasure. I am still having trouble with "mine".

LOL 'hush' LOL I swear if I didn't know better she laughs at me for saying hush.
OH! Scooter understands 'mine' she wont say it. But knows that when I where my Hat or glasses, MINE means leave it alone. Scooter has never been a talker, she only knows a couple of words.

It is hard to keep from laughing when they even do something bad that took planning. I do believe they plan things.
"Mine" is most often used with food. I put things from my plate to Myrtle's so she can see it is the same as mine. One evening I put curly pasta on her plate from mine. She wanted to get her own out of my plate and I had to say "mine". When I turned my head my aunt started laughing. Myrtle got pasta out of my dish into hers so she would get a bigger share.

The funniest was Rambo. I was giving my mother food on a hospital table in bed. Rambo hung out with her when she was bed bound. She gave him a piece of her toast. Momma never finished anything I gave her. When Rambo realized she had a piece of toast she was not eating, he put his toast down, walked over to her plate, pulled the toast off and back to where he had been standing. He put his foot on it to keep it safe then picked up the piece of toast he was given and finished eating it first.
Rambo was a good companion for a bed bound person and great entertainment for Mom and her nurses from Hospice. If Momma fell and I could not get her up I called 911 and they came to help.
It got to the point that when they came through the door they looked for Rambo first.
Momma became the favorite of patients for Hospice and EMS even to the ones who did not come to the house. They took pictures and brought them back for the others to see.

Sorry - I wandered away from topic.
