 Yes, of course, it's us who know nothing. I know. My children all agreed with you when they were growing up, and my grandchildren do it today.

The damage is that you should NOT be training anybody else's birds. Aside from the fact that you have no experience to speak of and can end up traumatizing them, parrots are not like dogs or horses, owners cannot take them to a trainer to teach the puppy or yearling and then just give the commands or ride it. Their brains work differently. It doesn't benefit a bird to learn a trick with one human and then have another human who did not train the bird simply repeat the command. Training a bird implies establishing first a bond of trust and love, as well as a two way relationship with it. The human needs to learn to observe and interpret its reactions and body language and figure out how to react to the bird's moods and displays in a way that would benefit it. The training is for both parties, not just the bird. You are eliminating the most important aspect of it so, even if the bird learns a trick or two with you, it will not benefit it at all because it was not done by its owner and the owner did not learn anything on his/her own. It needs to be 100% hands-on.

Just to let you know there are many trainers out there that do the same thing I do.And I dont teach them a trick and get the owner to repeat it they come to my house and I work with them and the owner I tell the owner what to do so its mostly the owner working with their bird in my house.

Again to give credit where it is due, it is good that you are working with the owner of the bird and having them learn to work with the bird themselves. But you still need to consider taking the time to research and study the areas that I have previously mentioned to you.

Geez! I wish this was about working as a cook at a McDonalds! Nobody would oppose that, I can assure you! But, obviously, you just want to do what you want to do and screw anybody else's arguments... a position that doesn't really recommend you as a trainer, my dear.

That, my dear, is your prerogative and I can see how you would feel that way... I am sorry to see you go because I never lose hope of reaching people (especially young people) but, in reality and at least at this point in time, it's not as if you are actually benefitting from been here because you don't really take anybody else's opinion into account. And that is the reason why everybody should join a forum -namely, to learn from other people.

Well then, I am happy you found a medium that you like but be careful you don't like them just because they agree with you all the time. Nobody learns from somebody telling them everything is OK all the time...
