Rehoming some birds

Oh, what a coincidence! I also taught myself English (I used to read books with a dictionary next to me and would pester people for hours asking them how to pronounce all the new words I found).

And YES, Argentina and Uruguay have, pretty much, the same culture and foods -only Argentinians call the pastries 'factura' while we call them 'bizcochos' but the only difference is the name. And one of my husband's favorite dishes is also pascualina (he complains all the time that I don't make it often enough -and it's true, but it's a lot of work for just two people)

I can't decide if I like pascualina or impanadas better. When I went to Argentina, we ate facturas/bizcochos every morning for breakfast for three weeks in a row.

The word is Empanadas (with an 'e') and yes, everybody loves them (gringos adore them, too! LOL). My husband likes them a lot but we can get good ones from a Uruguayan bakery nearby while he claims that nobody makes pascualina like I do... but it's not that I have the magic wand, it's that I use 'masa de hojaldre' (it's like Fillo dough) instead of the regular, heavier crust most people use plus I put lots and lots of good stuff mixed in with the spinach filling.

I must say that your English, at least your written English, is superb. At what age did you first learn English?

Thank you! I am not a prideful person but I do try hard when it comes to the English language... I was 17 years old when I first came to the States.
